This page sets out the current product safety, labelling and compliance information for Berry & Grouse products.

Berry & Grouse products are made using selected materials and components from established textile, lighting, craft and soft-furnishing suppliers. Where a material, component, insert, filling or finished product is supplied by a third-party manufacturer, any technical, safety, ethical, sustainability or performance information is based on the documentation and statements provided by that supplier.

Supplier specifications, safety information, compliance documents and relevant product records are retained where applicable.

This page may be updated as our product range develops.

Handmade Lampshades

Berry & Grouse handmade lampshades are made using professional lampshade-making materials, including specialist rigid lining materials intended for interior lampshade construction.

The decorative outer fabric is purchased from textile manufacturers, fabric houses or textile suppliers. Where required, fabric may be treated with a water-based fire-retardant treatment before construction.

Safety and performance information relating to lampshade-making components is based on supplier documentation and material specifications.

Each lampshade is supplied with appropriate bulb and safety guidance.

Standard Drum Lampshades

Standard drum lampshades are supplied with maximum wattage guidance.

Recommended bulb guidance: MAX 40W, Low-energy LED bulbs recommended. Keep away from open flames and high heat sources.

Candle Clip Lampshades

Candle clip lampshades sit directly on or close to the bulb and must be used with suitable low-heat bulbs only.

Recommended bulb guidance: Use with LED candle bulbs only. Do not use with halogen or incandescent bulbs.

Lampshade Safety Labelling

Berry & Grouse lampshades are supplied with a wattage or safety sticker applied to the lampshade, usually on or near the frame or fitting ring.

This sticker forms part of the product’s safety information and should not be removed.

Where a sticker cannot be applied directly to the lampshade for a specific product, bespoke request or construction reason, the relevant safety information may be supplied on an attached swing tag instead.

Customers should always follow the bulb guidance supplied with the lampshade and should keep lampshades away from open flames, radiators, stoves and other high heat sources.

Waste Paper Bins

Berry & Grouse waste paper bins are decorative waste paper bins intended for normal indoor use.

They are made using specialist rigid construction materials, with decorative fabric applied to the outer surface. Technical and safety information relating to the construction materials is based on supplier documentation and material specifications.

Waste paper bins should be used only for their intended purpose and should be kept away from fire, open flames, candles, radiators, stoves and other high heat sources.

Waste paper bins are intended for dry indoor use only and are not suitable for wet or damp environments.

Scatter Cushion Covers

Berry & Grouse scatter cushions are sold as cushion covers only, unless an insert is clearly stated as included.

Cushion covers are textile products and are supplied with fibre content information. Where a product has two or more textile components with different fibre contents, the relevant fibre content is shown by component where applicable.

Care information is provided where applicable to help customers care for the product correctly.

Scatter cushion covers should be kept away from fire, open flames, candles, radiators, stoves and other high heat sources.

Cushion inserts are not included with scatter cushion covers unless clearly stated. Cushion inserts may be purchased separately.

Draught Excluder Cases

Berry & Grouse draught excluders are currently sold as draught excluder cases only, unless otherwise stated.

Draught excluder cases are textile products and are supplied with fibre content information. Where a product has two or more textile components with different fibre contents, the relevant fibre content is shown by component where applicable.

Care information is provided where applicable to help customers care for the product correctly.

Draught excluder cases should be kept away from fire, open flames, candles, radiators, stoves and other high heat sources.

Draught excluder inserts are not included unless clearly stated. Draught excluder inserts may be purchased separately as standalone products.

Cushion Inserts, Draught Excluder Inserts & Loose Fillings

Cushion inserts, draught excluder inserts and loose fillings are sourced from specialist soft-furnishing, cushion or textile suppliers.

Where these products are sold by Berry & Grouse, they are sold as separate products and are supplied in accordance with the relevant manufacturer’s product information, safety guidance and compliance documentation.

Fire-safety, filling, textile, ethical, sustainability or performance information relating to inserts and fillings is based on the relevant supplier or manufacturer’s documentation.

Where required, Berry & Grouse may provide available manufacturer or supplier documentation upon request.

Textile Materials

Berry & Grouse fabrics are purchased from textile manufacturers, fabric houses and textile suppliers.

Current fabric types used by Berry & Grouse may include cotton, wool, polyester and blends of these fibres.

Textile composition, fabric type, finish and any related material descriptions are stated according to information provided by the fabric supplier or manufacturer.

Where different visible textile components are used in one product, the relevant fibre composition is stated by component where applicable.

Willow & Wicker Products

Berry & Grouse willow and wicker products are sourced from established wholesale suppliers and specialist manufacturers.

Ethical, sustainability and environmental information relating to willow and wicker products is based on supplier documentation and supplier statements.

Our current willow and wicker supplier has stated that environmental and ethical considerations form part of its sourcing process, including consideration of working conditions, wages, working hours and traditional farming methods.

The willow used for these products is sourced from fast-growing, regenerating crops cultivated for this purpose, using sustained traditional farming methods without chemical application.

Where relevant, supplier documentation may refer to ethical trading policies, SEDEX membership, ISO 9001 status or ISO 14001 status. These statements are made by the supplier or manufacturer and are not independent Berry & Grouse test results or certifications.

Where required, Berry & Grouse may provide available supplier information upon request.

Natural Sheepskin Products

Berry & Grouse offers a carefully selected range of genuine sheepskin products supplied by Hanlin Ltd, a specialist UK trade supplier of sheepskin and related products.

The range may include long-wool sheepskins, sheepskin cushions and sheepskin pet beds. As sheepskin is a natural material, individual products will vary in shape, dimensions, wool texture, markings and shade. These natural variations are characteristic of the material and mean that no two pieces will be identical.

Long-Wool Sheepskins

Our selected long-wool single sheepskins have an approximate width of 60cm, with approximate lengths according to size:

Small: 85cm
Medium: 90cm
Large: 95cm
XL: 100cm
XXL: 105cm

Measurements are approximate and are taken across the widest and longest parts of the sheepskin, including the wool. Natural variation should therefore be expected.

Sheepskin Cushions

Selected sheepskin cushions are supplied as complete cushions and are constructed with a genuine sheepskin front and cotton reverse, with a zip closure and removable recycled-polyester cushion inner.

These products are supplied to Berry & Grouse with fire-safety labelling and product information provided by the supplier.

Sheepskin Pet Beds

Selected long-wool sheepskin pet beds are constructed with a genuine sheepskin upper surface and quilted cotton reverse.

The sheepskin cover has a zip closure and is removable. The bed is supplied with a memory-foam inner and applicable fire-safety labelling from the supplier.

Product Testing & Material Compliance

Supporting compliance documentation supplied to Berry & Grouse by Hanlin includes an Intertek test report covering identified 100% sheepskin samples, including long-wool products and colour finishes.

The testing recorded within the report includes assessment for selected substances and material characteristics relevant to sheepskin products, including formaldehyde, soluble heavy metals, Chromium VI, pesticide residues, colour fastness and material performance.

The testing relates only to the samples identified within the supplier documentation and should not be interpreted as independent testing carried out by Berry & Grouse.

OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD

Supporting documentation supplied by Hanlin also includes an OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD certificate issued to Auskin Group of Companies Pty. Ltd.

The certificate covers specified chrome-free tanned woolskin products within Product Class II, for products with direct contact to skin. The certificate supplied to Berry & Grouse states a validity date of 31 May 2027.

OEKO-TEX® certification relates only to the scope and products specified within the certificate supplied by the manufacturer and should not be interpreted as a blanket certification claim for products outside that stated scope.

Animal-Welfare & Processing Documentation

Hanlin has supplied an AUS-MEAT audit certificate relating to AFFCO New Zealand Limited – Rangiuru, Te Puke, New Zealand.

The audit scope stated on the certificate includes sheep animal welfare together with HACCP and GMP requirements.

The certificate was issued on 2 April 2026 following an audit on 19 March 2026 and is stated to expire on 14 June 2027.

This certificate relates specifically to the facility identified within the supplied documentation. Berry & Grouse does not extend this facility-specific certification to products or processing sites not covered by the supporting certificate.

Sheepskin Care

Care information is based on guidance supplied by Hanlin and the care labelling attached to the products.

Sheepskin products should be shaken regularly or dry vacuumed using plain suction. Light marks and soiling may be spot cleaned using a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Where washing is appropriate according to the product care label, sheepskin may be gently washed using mild liquid detergent. Products should not be tumble dried or exposed to direct heat. While damp, the wool pile may be brushed and the leather carefully flexed to help restore its softness as it dries.

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided to help reduce UV damage and colour fading.

For dyed sheepskin products, professional dry cleaning is recommended where appropriate, as colours may fade or bleed if washed.

Customers should always follow the care label supplied with their individual product.

Supplier Testing & Material Documentation

These sheepskin products are supplied to Berry & Grouse by Hanlin Ltd.

Hanlin has advised Berry & Grouse that its hides and sheepskins are sourced as by-products of the meat industry. This statement is based on information supplied by Hanlin and should not be interpreted as an independent Berry & Grouse certification.

Product construction, dimensions, care guidance, sourcing information and supporting compliance documentation stated by Berry & Grouse are based on information and documentation supplied by Hanlin and the relevant manufacturers or certification bodies.

Supporting documentation currently held by Berry & Grouse includes material testing undertaken by Intertek, an OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD certificate and an AUS-MEAT sheep animal-welfare audit certificate relating to the specific manufacturers, materials and facilities identified within those documents.

Berry & Grouse does not make broader environmental, ethical, welfare or certification claims beyond the scope of the documentation supplied to us.

Lamp Bases & Electrical Lighting Products

Berry & Grouse lamp bases and electrical lighting products may be supplied and fulfilled by third-party trade suppliers or manufacturers.

Where lamp bases are drop shipped, Berry & Grouse does not physically handle, modify, rewire, alter, inspect or repack the product before dispatch.

Lamp bases are supplied as finished electrical products and should include the product information, safety markings, plug information and safety guidance provided by the relevant supplier or manufacturer.

Customers should always follow the safety information supplied with the product and use bulbs that are suitable for the lamp base, fitting and lampshade.

Lamp bases are intended for indoor use only unless expressly stated otherwise. They should be placed on a stable, level surface and kept away from water, damp environments, open flames, soft furnishings and high heat sources.

Electrical products should not be used if the cable, plug, switch, lampholder or fitting appears damaged. Customers should stop using the product immediately if they notice overheating, flickering, burning smells, visible damage or unusual operation.

Electrical safety, UKCA/CE marking, plug, fuse, wiring and product-performance information relating to lamp bases is based on the relevant supplier or manufacturer documentation, product markings and information supplied with the product.

Where required, Berry & Grouse may request available supplier or manufacturer information on behalf of the customer.

Candles, Hurricane Candles & Lanterns

Wax candles, hurricane candles, lanterns and decorative candle holders supplied by third-party manufacturers or specialist homeware suppliers.

These products are supplied for their stated decorative or intended use and should always be used in accordance with the safety information supplied with the product.

Candles and lanterns should only be used on a stable, heat-resistant surface and should be kept away from curtains, soft furnishings, papers, dried flowers, decorations and anything that may catch fire.

Customers should never leave a burning candle unattended and should keep candles, lanterns and naked flames away from children and pets.

Candles should not be burned near draughts, open windows or air movement that may cause uneven burning or flame movement.

Lanterns and hurricane candle holders should only be used with candles of a suitable size and type for the product. Customers should not allow flames to touch the sides, top, handle or decorative elements of the lantern or holder.

Some lanterns, hurricane holders or decorative candle accessories may become hot during use. Customers should allow products to cool fully before moving, cleaning or handling.

Wax candles, including scented candles where applicable, are supplied with safety and labelling information provided by the relevant manufacturer or supplier. Where fragrance, wax composition, CLP labelling, allergen information, safety data or other technical information is stated, this is based on the relevant supplier or manufacturer documentation.

Berry & Grouse does not present supplier or manufacturer candle-safety, fragrance, wax, CLP or material claims as independent Berry & Grouse test results.

Where required, Berry & Grouse may provide available manufacturer or supplier information upon request.

Concrete Wood-Wick Scented Candles

Our concrete wood-wick candles are supplied by Ancient Wisdom Marketing Ltd, Affinity Park, Europa Drive, Sheffield, S9 1XT, United Kingdom.

Product-specific allergen declarations are retained for both available fragrances and can be requested:

Customers should always follow the warning label and burning instructions supplied with the candle. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from children, pets, draughts and combustible materials, and place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

The concrete vessel may become hot during use and should not be moved until completely cool. Natural variations and small surface markings are characteristic of individually produced concrete and are not manufacturing faults.

Faux Plants, Trees, Flowers & Wreaths

Our faux botanical collection includes artificial plants, trees, floral arrangements, individual stems, garlands and decorative wreaths. These are decorative products intended to bring lasting botanical character to residential and commercial interiors without the watering, pruning or seasonal care required by living plants.

Materials, construction and suitability vary between designs. Please always read the individual product description, as product-specific information takes precedence over the general guidance below.

Intended Use & Safety

Faux botanicals are decorative articles and are not toys or edible products.

Some designs may contain internal shaping wire, artificial berries, detachable leaves, floral components, decorative moss, stones or other small parts. Keep these components away from babies, young children and pets, and do not place them where they may be chewed or swallowed.

Faux flowers and foliage are not intended for direct contact with food. When styling kitchen islands, dining tables or serving areas, position them away from food-preparation surfaces, cooking appliances and open dishes.

Fire & Heat Safety

Unless the individual product description specifically states otherwise, faux plants, flowers and wreaths must not be regarded as fire-resistant.

Always keep artificial foliage well away from:

• Naked flames and candles
• Open fires, log burners and stoves
• Radiators and other direct heat sources
• Hot light bulbs and electrical equipment
• Cooking appliances and heated surfaces

Products specifically described as fire-resistant or fire-retardant have been selected from designated supplier ranges. Fire-resistant does not mean fireproof, and these products remain decorative articles rather than fire-safety equipment.

In hotels, restaurants, offices, care settings, holiday accommodation and other commercial premises, the purchaser or premises operator remains responsible for ensuring that a product is suitable for its proposed location and for complying with the premises’ fire-risk assessment. Please contact us before ordering if supporting fire-performance information is required.

Indoor, Outdoor & UV-Protected Products

Unless expressly described as outdoor suitable or UV-resistant, our faux botanicals are intended principally for indoor use.

Standard artificial foliage may fade, discolour or deteriorate when exposed to prolonged sunlight, rain, frost, humidity or changing temperatures. Ordinary indoor products placed in conservatories or beside strongly sunlit windows may also fade over time.

Wreaths that are not UV-protected may be displayed temporarily on a sheltered exterior door. They should be protected from prolonged direct sunlight, heavy rain, frost and strong winds, and brought indoors during severe weather.

Products expressly described as UV-resistant, UV-protected or outdoor suitable have been manufactured or treated to withstand exterior conditions more effectively. UV protection considerably slows fading but cannot prevent all weathering indefinitely. Their appearance and lifespan will depend upon positioning, climate and the level of exposure.

Always secure exterior plants and wreaths appropriately and bring lightweight or top-heavy pieces into a protected area during high winds or extreme weather.

Unpacking, Shaping & Positioning

Plants, trees and wreaths may be packed closely for safe transport. After unpacking, gently separate and arrange the branches, leaves and flowers to restore their intended shape.

Many designs contain flexible internal wire. Shape these parts gradually and avoid forceful, sharp or repeated bending, which may weaken the stem or expose the internal wire.

Place freestanding plants and trees on a firm, level surface. Tall or top-heavy designs should be positioned in a suitably sized decorative planter and stabilised where necessary. Do not place large arrangements where they may obstruct doors, stairs, emergency routes or frequently used walkways.

Secure wreaths and hanging foliage with fittings appropriate for the product’s weight, the mounting surface and the intended location. Check fixings periodically, particularly when used near entrances or outside.

Decorative planters, baskets, moss, bark and stones are not included unless specifically stated in the product description.

Care & Cleaning

Faux botanicals require no watering.

For regular care:

• Remove dust gently with a clean microfibre cloth, feather duster or soft brush
• Wipe leaves and containers with a soft, slightly damp cloth when deeper cleaning is required
• Support delicate flowers and leaves while cleaning
• Allow all surfaces to dry fully before returning the product to display

Do not immerse or saturate artificial plants, flowers, wreaths or their containers. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, bleach, solvents and household polishing sprays, as these may damage the finish, colour or surface treatment.

Natural-wood trunks, woven wreath bases, stone-effect pots and hand-finished containers should be kept as dry as possible. Any spills should be blotted promptly rather than rubbed.

Materials & Natural Variation

Depending upon the design, faux botanicals may contain combinations of polyester, plastic, resin, foam, metal wire, natural wood, woven fibres, cement, ceramic, glass, stone-effect materials or decorative substrates.

Exact materials and dimensions are provided on the individual product page wherever supplied by the manufacturer. Measurements are approximate and may vary slightly after the foliage has been arranged.

Small differences in colouring, leaf position, flower placement, natural trunks and hand-finished containers are part of the character of these decorative pieces and are not considered faults.

Commercial & Hospitality Use

Before specifying faux botanicals for hotels, restaurants, offices, retail spaces, events, care environments or holiday accommodation, confirm whether the setting requires fire-resistant, UV-resistant or otherwise specifically tested products.

A product should only be described or relied upon as fire-resistant or UV-resistant when this is expressly confirmed within its individual listing. Product-specific documentation may be available on request and should be obtained before installation where it is required for a project, inspection or fire-risk assessment.

Inspection & Disposal

Inspect your faux botanical when it arrives and discontinue use if a stem, fixing, container or internal wire becomes damaged or exposed.

At the end of the product’s useful life, do not burn artificial foliage. Because many pieces contain mixed materials, local recycling arrangements will vary. Separate components only where this can be done safely and consult your local authority for appropriate disposal guidance.

Commercial, Hospitality & Trade Use

Berry & Grouse products are sold for their stated domestic, decorative or intended product use unless otherwise specified.

Customers purchasing for hotels, B&Bs, holiday accommodation, commercial interiors, retail spaces, interior design projects or other trade settings should check whether any additional fire-safety, insurance, site-specific, contract or industry requirements apply before purchase.

Berry & Grouse can provide available product, material or supplier information upon request where applicable. However, it is the responsibility of the purchaser, designer, specifier, accommodation provider or relevant responsible person to determine whether a product is suitable for their intended setting and any additional requirements that may apply.

Berry & Grouse does not describe products as contract-grade, hospitality-compliant, hotel-compliant, fire-certified for commercial interiors, or suitable for specific regulated environments unless this is expressly stated on the product page or supporting documentation.

Supplier Claims & Manufacturer Information

Some Berry & Grouse products contain materials, components, inserts, fillings or finished goods supplied by third-party manufacturers.
